Common questions
What is a CP42 certificate and do I need one?
A CP42 is the commercial catering gas safety record. It shows your kitchen's gas appliances, pipework, ventilation and interlock have been checked by a Gas Safe engineer qualified for commercial catering. Environmental health officers, insurers and landlords expect to see a current one, and most ask for it to be renewed every 12 months.
Do you install gas pipework for new or refitted restaurant kitchens?
Yes. We design the pipework around your equipment, install it, then test, purge and certify it. That covers new kitchens, full refits and moving or adding appliances.
Can you check my kitchen's ventilation and gas interlock?
Yes. Ventilation and the gas interlock are checked as part of the CP42, and we can also inspect extraction canopies and fix interlock faults so your kitchen can get back in service.
Are your prices really fixed?
Yes. You get a fixed price before any work starts. If we find something unexpected, we explain it and agree the cost with you before doing anything extra.
When will I get my certificate?
Certificates and paperwork are emailed to you the same day the work is finished.
Do you offer emergency call-outs?
We're a small, owner-run business rather than a 24-hour call centre. We're open 7 days a week and book you in as quickly as the diary allows — call and we'll tell you honestly when we can be there.
Which areas do you cover?
We're based in Norwich and cover Norfolk and Suffolk, including Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft, King's Lynn, Dereham, Thetford, Cromer and Ipswich. We also travel to London for commercial kitchen work, booked in advance.
Do you still do work for homes?
Yes. Alongside commercial kitchens we install and service boilers, fix heating, connect gas cookers and hobs, and do plumbing — at the same fixed prices.
